A Little Pain, A Little Panic

Stress If there were a way to place a microphone in my little noggin, snuggled up next to this infernally overactive brain, between the wrinkles, just adjacent to my temporal lobe, and this microphone could somehow translate the firing of synapses into language, "Terrible" is the word that would serve as notice of a barrage of the loosely cogent, barely related litany of internal arguments on the way. Like this moment of panic when Beaker demonstrates non-flammable paper,   I, too, react similarly, in times of duress. However here, it is less of a spontaneous reaction to a perfectly reasonable stimulus, and more like  this scene from "His Girl Friday" .  While searching for a clip to properly encapsulate the chaos I feel roams so freely in my mind, I also realized there is a distinct lack of modern (or postmodern, I suppose) scenes of banter that I am aware of. I refuse to acknowledge anything that happens in the MCU as banter, or reminiscent of witty, with the exp...

An Ode, to Improv

Readers. It's time to write.  As I mentioned, I enjoy writing. The act itself is very soothing. Feeling my hands move over the keys, almost on their own as I think the words into existence. Knowing without knowing right where to place my fingers, having them drift around and seek out letters to build each word, words piling over each other into sentences, with punctuation and syntax and all the other things that make it palatable to my monkey brain and yours, too, I hope, reader.  I also hope that some of you agree with me about the joy of writing. I know I'm not alone, that it would be foolish to think as much. Even now, as I listen to a playlist of stand-up comedians crafted for me by an algorithm from Spotify, I find myself more entranced by the act of typing my experience here, instead of the riffs and zingers from the snippets of performances. Let's roll with this topic of humor, yes? I started out being a pretty funny kiddo, it was a pastime of ours to listen and re-l...

Rolling Right Along

Plans for this blog. What are they? Be Awesome Write gud Commission (my first ever) profile picture I think I am going to go for an image in which one person, who is doing the typical Scrivener/Scribe pose where they are just sitting at a table with a manuscript, is interacting with the piece or person they are recording. I've seen some antique art where it looks like what I think is an actual scrivener as opposed to a scribe , someone interviewing another person with a funny seated position, and transcribing what they're saying What aspect of The Scrivener do I want to perpetuate through this blog? I feel as though the role is generally a selfless one, in which the information which is recorded is not necessarily  pertinent, but perhaps more apposite. Something that is more about the circumstances than the individual. I think this is appropriate for the theme of this blog. It is less important for me to think of myself as selfless than it is to look for ways in which I can d...

Jumping Right In...

Two jobs, schoolwork, happiness, a purpose. These are the main stressors components of my life. Frequently, people relate to me that they find me to be relatable. I am a leader across communities, but I often find my mind wandering, buzzing with questions, thinking about the world around me.       I write a lot for one of 'the jobs'. Like, a lot. 95% of what I write is required to be objective, free from bias, etc., etc., etc. I used the word 'haughtily' in one of my pieces last week, and I'm still riding that high. Does this mean I am a skilled writer? I don't think so, but I genuinely don't dislike writing. I enjoy writing for work, and extrapolating on insignificant details is somewhat thrilling. So is going back and getting a gestalt-view of a narrative. I think my Authorial Voice has suffered due to this restrictiveness. I'm afraid I sound like a drone, haranguing readers' mind-ears with an insufferable tenacity. My objective is to make yo...
